Fellow walnut researchers,
I am honored to have been elected Chair of this ISHS working group. First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my professor, Dr. Gale McGranahan, the former chair of the ISHS Walnut Working Group, for her accomplishments during her tenure and for encouraging me to be a candidate for this position. I also would like to thank all of the walnut family members for their support as I begin this endeavor.
As you might recall, Dr McGranahan, with help from the Fruit and Nut Research and Information Center at UC Davis, developed a listserv for the international walnut research community based on the membership list for the ISHS walnut working group. This listserv allows you to share information or ask your questions about walnuts simply by sending an email to ishs-walnut@ucdavis.edu. You can also cc your emails to ishs_f27@listserv.cc.kuleuven.ac.be so that all Walnut Working Group members receive your message. If you know anyone else who would like to be added to this listserv send their email address to me at:

This listserv is not limited to ISHS members.
I am considering also publishing an electronic newsletter for WALNUT. This newsletter could include titles and summaries of PhD and MS theses on walnut topics that have been published recently or are currently in progress, a calendar of walnut related symposia, titles of newly published articles about walnut, introductions to walnut researchers and walnut research activities all around the world, questions and answers about walnut etc. To accomplish this we will need some volunteers to help gather, assemble, and publish the information. Please send me an email if you are interested and willing to contribute to any part of this project.
With your support I am sure we will have one of the most active and fruitful working groups of ISHS, one that this will help us extend and expand our collaborations and improve our knowledge about WALNUT.
